World, meet Priya T. Priya is a high school student from a small village outside of Mumbai, India and in 2013 Cram Crew started co-sponsoring her education in the U.S. This summer Priya visited Cram Crew to start using our Test Preparation services and we had the opportunity to sit down with her and talk about her experiences with Cram Crew and the U.S. education system.
The biggest difference between the U.S. and Indian education systems is that, in India, you have to study a lot on your own, Priya explains. You have to cram a lot and all by yourself. Here, things are a lot more interactive.
Working interactively, in groups and with others, is something Priya really enjoys because it pushes her out of her comfort zone and encourages her to be more outgoing. She loves her English class for that very reason; the group discussions have helped her understand multiple interpretations of her course reading and sparked her imagination.
Not all of the subjects Priya has tackled in the U.S. so far have been a breeze, though. Last year, biology was really hard and this year I’m taking chemistry, and honors geometry, and honors algebra II.
Luckily, Priya can take full advantage of Cram Crew’s consultants for help. Everyone is so nice and really amazing! I’m really learning a lot.
But more than our amazing consultants, Priya says our convenience is our best asset. Students don’t have to go anywhere, we can learn right from our homes. And that convenience is priceless, Priya says, when she’s busy with extracurricular activities like being involved with her church.
The summer, Priya believes, is the perfect time to get ahead with all of Cram Crew’s services. In addition to using our Academic Support services for summer assignments, she’s also studying for the SAT and ACT, and taking regular mock exams.
Doing well on those standardized tests, and in her classes, will help Priya achieve her ultimate goal: to become a dentist. Dentists, Priya says, help people look beautiful and feel good about themselves. I love what they do!
We’re determined to help Priya become the person she wants to be; she has been a delight to work with and we’re thrilled to help her through her junior and senior years as well.
